Orphaned Wiley had a hard life, unceremoniously abandoned as a child and having to cope that she transforms into an ugly hairy unknown creature when she feels very intense emotions. Well, her life was about to become harder when she stumbles across others of her own kind, one of which is a hot prince who happens to be her betrothed!The book starts off well enough and I quite like the author's writing style. The plot in this book is similar to The Charmer, except told from the perspective of Wiley. If so, it would have been expected that there would have been more plot, or additional twist and turns to give life to this novel. Unfortunately, this was not to be, you ocassionally had word for word replication of certain scenes in The Charmer. The major flaw in this book was that it turned out to be a unconcluded short novel and ended with a "Read The Charmer to find out how it all ends!"

You have got to be kidding me! Short story + overlap in plot + no conclusive ending?!?!?!?! Especially when this novel is $2.99, which is more expensive than the other books in the Darkland series!! If this was made clear in the product description (that it's a prologue or short prequel to The Charmer), I would not feel so disgruntled. Save your money and read The Charmer (a really good novel) which has a much stronger plot and is cheaper to boot!

I was so looking forwar to reading this book. the author did not specify which came first like many that will write "book 1" i started with the book Scent of Danger which I think was Book #4, which i enjoyed..when I purchased the other parts, i was so dissappointed....
It's a decent book but you don't really learn anything different from the first. Which I loved( The Charmer). This is Wiley pov but like I said theres only a few added scenes that were not in the first. It was almost like reading a cut version of Charmer. Its very short. In my opinion. $2.99 is too much for this short story of nothing new. It should have been free or no more then .99 cents.
I love the series and bought them all, but I didn't know that this book is the same as The Charmer, but really short! I wasted money. ( The author should have stated this. DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK, BUY THE CHARMER!!!
I liked this story BUT the preface was kinda ruined because so much of her was in the first book Charmer. We already know what happens to her etc. This should have been the first in the series. My opinion though.
Good series... like the storyline.. a little different, but that's what intrigues.... I could do without the man macho crop but it hasn't stopped me from reading two and more to come... worth the read
A good book to fill in th we time hinted around in book 1. Don't take it as a stand-alone as the author stated it lets you see their beginnings. If you like me enjoy reading sequels and want to understand who and how read it.
Good book. Dealt with werewolves, but went deeper into the feelings that certain people have when they feel different then other people. In this case she was different. Wiley was a werewolf.
Wiley's best friend, Jasmine, from childhood was accepting of everything about her. This is a rare thing. There usually are conditions attached to relationships.
